The CHIFA System: A Major Achievement in the Modernization of Social Security

The CHIFA system represents one of the main reforms undertaken in the context of modernizing the social security sector.

It is defined as a modern management system that combines electronic and computer technologies, integrating advanced technologies to form a bridge between the social security organization, healthcare professionals, and the insured person.

The CHIFA system was implemented in two (02) phases:

The first phase:

It spanned from 2007 to 2012 with the establishment of a basic infrastructure, equipped with the necessary hardware for the system to operate efficiently. This enabled the creation of a computer network and various business applications.

The second phase:

Launched as of February 3, 2013, this is the final phase — the nationwide extension of the use of the CHIFA card. This will allow insured individuals to obtain medication from any contracted pharmacy across the national territory.

A second personalization center: the Laghouat backup site:

At the beginning of 2013, the Wilaya of Laghouat was equipped with a backup site to ensure continuity of service in the event of a failure or unforeseen issue at the Ben Aknoun center. This site includes a processing station that controls forms transmitted by agencies, synchronized with the main personalization center, thus securing the database via a reinforced fiber-optic computer network.
