« The electronic card Chifa is one of the key elements of an innovative project that aims to modernize Social Security through the introduction of advanced technology for its management and relations with its partners. »

CNAS has established a personalization center, in line with international standards, for the production of Chifa electronic cards. The smart card for insured persons, the keys for healthcare professionals, as well as those issued to CNAS staff users, are generated and managed by this center, which has a national scope and is the first of its kind in Africa.

The personalization center for the Chifa social security electronic card is located at the Ben Aknoun Family Center, under the responsibility of the IT Directorate. It was inaugurated by the Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Security on April 17, 2007.

It consists of:

  • A data preparation module,
  • A card personalization module,
  • A quality control module,
  • A key management server. It uses Datacard DC9000 personalization machines, with a production capacity of 400 to 600 cards per hour, as well as scanners capable of processing 1,000 to 1,200 forms per hour.

    At this center:

  •  The blank smart card is personalized for each insured person with, on the one hand, the visible inscription of certain personal information on the card (identity, date of birth, photograph, social security number),
  • And on the other hand, the integration into the card’s chip of additional administrative and medical information, concerning both the insured person and their dependents, which can only be accessed electronically using the keys of authorized professionals.
